Who is responsible

SwapSift is an independently operated crypto exchange comparison and information website. Direct any privacy question to the e-mail address on the contact page.

What we do not collect

We do not run user accounts or registration. We do not ask for your name, e-mail address, phone number or identity documents anywhere on this site. The only cookies on this site are the Google Analytics cookies described below; we do not build browser fingerprints, do not load advertising pixels, and do not sell personal data to anyone.

Infrastructure: Cloudflare

The site is served from Cloudflare’s network (Workers, static assets and the D1 database). Cloudflare processes each request to deliver the page and may keep short-lived operational logs under its own privacy terms. Our application does not store raw IP addresses in its database.

Approximate country detection

Some pages ask our own server which country your connection appears to come from, using the country code Cloudflare attaches to the request, so we can suggest a market edition. The answer is not stored by that endpoint, is never used to redirect you, and is not shared with third parties.

Affiliate click events

When you click a referral link (an address beginning with /go/) our server records a minimal event so we can count referrals and detect abuse: the time, the offer identifier, the two-letter country code of your connection, the internal page you came from and the button position, the hostname (never the full address) of the referring site when a browser sends one, a campaign label when the link carries one (see “Visits from AI assistants” below), and the outcome (redirected, unavailable, blocked). It does not contain your IP address, user-agent string, cookies or any identifier that persists between visits. Unless you turned analytics off, the same click is also counted in Google Analytics (see “Referral button clicks” below).

Visits from AI assistants

If you reach this site from an AI assistant such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, Gemini or Claude (recognised from the referring site or the utm_source label the assistant adds to its links), your browser keeps the assistant’s name, for example chatgpt, in session storage for the current tab only (key swapsift.aiSource); it is deleted when you close the tab. While it is there, our own referral links on the page carry campaign=ai-chatgpt, so the click event above records which assistant the visit came from, and the Google Analytics affiliate_click event carries the same name as ai_source. Nothing else about the conversation or you is read or kept, the label is never passed on to an exchange, and none of this happens while analytics is turned off.

E-mail you send us

If you write to the address on the contact page, we process what you send: your e-mail address, any display name your mail client attaches, the message content, any attachments and the time stamps. We use it to respond to your enquiry, to provide support, to handle a legal or privacy request, and, if necessary, to prevent abuse. Mail is handled by our e-mail provider under its own terms; we keep correspondence only as long as needed to deal with it and any follow-up. We do not add correspondents to any list.

Market preference in your browser

If you dismiss the region suggestion or choose a market edition, that choice is kept in your browser’s local storage only. It is not a cookie, it is not sent to our server, and you can clear it through your browser settings. If you turn analytics off under “Cookie settings”, that choice is kept the same way (key analytics-consent).

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-01X9TDRCJN), a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand which pages are read and how visitors find the site. It runs on every page unless you turn it off (see “Turning it off” below).

  • What is collected. Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_01X9TDRCJN, each lasting up to two years and holding a random identifier. It records the pages you view, scrolls, clicks and time on page, the referring site, your device type, browser, screen size and language, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
  • Referral button clicks. When you click a referral button (an address beginning with /go/), Google Analytics also records an affiliate_click event carrying only the offer name (for example bitget), the button’s position on the page (for example profile-top) and, after a visit from an AI assistant, that assistant’s name (see above), so we can see which pages lead to exchange sign-ups. No event is sent while analytics is turned off.
  • No advertising use. Advertising storage, ad user data, ad personalisation and Google signals are switched off on this site.
  • Who processes it and where. Google provides the service and may process the data outside your country, including in the United States; see Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, at most 14 months.
  • Turning it off. Select “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page and choose “Turn off analytics”. Google Analytics then stops measuring your visits to this site, its cookies are deleted, and your choice is remembered in your browser; “Allow analytics” switches it back on. Google’s script file is still part of each page, but with analytics off it sends no measurement. You can also install Google’s opt-out browser add-on or block cookies in your browser settings.

Optional Cloudflare Web Analytics

If enabled, the site loads Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookie-less measurement script that reports aggregate page views without identifying visitors. Apart from Google Analytics, no other analytics service or tag manager is loaded.

Third-party sites

Exchange websites you reach through our links have their own privacy policies and identity requirements. We are not responsible for their practices.

Your rights

Depending on your country you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Unless you turned analytics off, pseudonymous data about your visits is held in our Google Analytics account under the random identifier in your _ga cookie, which we cannot link to your name; turning analytics off under “Cookie settings” deletes that cookie. Apart from that, browsing this site leaves us with no personal data, so a request about browsing alone will usually return no records. If you have written to us, we do hold that correspondence (see “E-mail you send us” above). We assess privacy requests against the information we actually hold, including correspondence you have sent us; contact us through the contact page and we will respond.

Changes

We will update this page when our data practices change and show the update date at the top.
